Paulus, ein Knecht Gottes und ein Apostel Jesu Christi, nach dem Glauben der Auserwählten Gottes und der Erkenntnis der Wahrheit zur Gottseligkeit,

PABLO, siervo de Dios, y apóstol de Jesucristo, según la fe de los escogidos de Dios, y el conocimiento de la verdad que es según la piedad,

auf Hoffnung des ewigen Lebens, welches verheißen hat, der nicht lügt, Gott, vor den Zeiten der Welt,

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

aber zu seiner Zeit hat er offenbart sein Wort durch die Predigt, die mir vertrauet ist nach dem Befehl Gottes, unsers Heilandes,

Y manifestó á sus tiempos su palabra por la predicación, que me es á mí encomendada por mandamiento de nuestro Salvador Dios;

But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,

dem Titus, meinem rechtschaffenen Sohn nach unser beider Glauben: Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und dem HERRN Jesus Christus, unserm Heiland!

A Tito, verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo Salvador nuestro.

Derhalben ließ ich dich in Kreta, daß du solltest vollends ausrichten, was ich gelassen habe, und besetzen die Städte hin und her mit Ältesten, wie ich dir befohlen haben;

Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo que falta, y pusieses ancianos por las villas, así como yo te mandé:

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

wo einer ist untadelig, eines Weibes Mann, der gläubige Kinder habe, nicht berüchtigt, daß sie Schwelger und ungehorsam sind.

El que fuere sin crimen, marido de una mujer, que tenga hijos fieles que no estén acusados de disolución, ó contumaces.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Denn ein Bischof soll untadelig sein als ein Haushalter Gottes, nicht eigensinnig, nicht zornig, nicht ein Weinsäufer, nicht raufen, nicht unehrliche Hantierung treiben;

Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

sondern gastfrei, gütig, züchtig, gerecht, heilig, keusch,

Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,

und haltend ob dem Wort, das gewiß ist, und lehrhaft, auf daß er mächtig sei, zu ermahnen durch die heilsame Lehre und zu strafen die Widersprecher.

Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

Denn es sind viel freche und unnütze Schwätzer und Verführer, sonderlich die aus den Juden,

Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades, y engañadores de las almas, mayormente los que son de la circuncisión,

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

welchen man muß das Maul stopfen, die da ganze Häuser verkehren und lehren, was nicht taugt, um schändlichen Gewinns willen.

A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

Es hat einer aus ihnen gesagt, ihr eigener Prophet: “Die Kreter sind immer Lügner, böse Tiere und faule Bäuche.”

Dijo uno de ellos, propio profeta de ellos: Los Cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, vientres perezosos.

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Dies Zeugnis ist wahr. Um der Sache willen strafe sie scharf, auf daß sie gesund seien im Glauben

Este testimonio es verdadero: por tanto, repréndelos duramente, para que sean sanos en la fe,

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

und nicht achten auf die jüdischen Fabeln und Gebote von Menschen, welche sich von der Wahrheit abwenden.

No atendiendo á fábulas judaicas, y á mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

Den Reinen ist alles rein; den Unreinen aber und Ungläubigen ist nichts rein, sondern unrein ist ihr Sinn sowohl als ihr Gewissen.

Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Sie sagen, sie erkennen Gott; aber mit den Werken verleugnen sie es, sintemal sie es sind, an welchen Gott Greuel hat, und gehorchen nicht und sind zu allem guten Werk untüchtig.

Profésanse conocer á Dios; mas con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados para toda buena obra.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
