Ich, Paulus, ein Knecht Gottes und ein Apostel Jesu Christi, (bestellt) für den Glauben der Auserwählten Gottes und für die Erkenntnis der Wahrheit, die sich in einem gottseligen Wandel bewährt,

PABLO, siervo de Dios, y apóstol de Jesucristo, según la fe de los escogidos de Dios, y el conocimiento de la verdad que es según la piedad,

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

(bestellt) aufgrund der Hoffnung des ewigen Lebens, das der untrügliche Gott (schon) vor ewigen Zeiten verheißen hat –

Para la esperanza de la vida eterna, la cual Dios, que no puede mentir, prometió antes de los tiempos de los siglos,

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

kundgetan aber hat er sein Wort zur festgesetzten Zeit durch die Predigt, mit der ich im Auftrage Gottes, unsers Retters betraut worden bin –:

Y manifestó á sus tiempos su palabra por la predicación, que me es á mí encomendada por mandamiento de nuestro Salvador Dios;

But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,

ich sende meinen Gruß dem Titus, meinem hinsichtlich des gemeinsamen Glaubens echten Kinde: Gnade (sei mit dir) und Friede von Gott dem Vater und unserm Retter Christus Jesus!

A Tito, verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo Salvador nuestro.

To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Ich habe dich zu dem Zweck in Kreta zurückgelassen, daß du das (von mir dort) noch nicht Erledigte in Ordnung bringen und in den einzelnen Städten Älteste einsetzen möchtest, wie ich es dir aufgetragen habe,

Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo que falta, y pusieses ancianos por las villas, así como yo te mandé:

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

nämlich solche (Männer), die unbescholten und nur eines Weibes Mann sind und gläubige Kinder haben, denen man nicht zuchtlosen Lebenswandel oder Unbotmäßigkeit nachsagen kann;

El que fuere sin crimen, marido de una mujer, que tenga hijos fieles que no estén acusados de disolución, ó contumaces.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

denn ein Gemeindevorsteher muß als Gottes Haushalter unbescholten sein, nicht eigenwillig, nicht zornmütig, kein Trinker, kein Händelsucher, nicht schändlichem Gewinn nachgehend;

Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

vielmehr muß er gastfrei sein, allem Guten zugetan, besonnen, gerecht, gottesfürchtig, enthaltsam;

Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,

er muß an dem zuverlässigen Wort (Gottes) festhalten, wie er es im Unterricht empfangen hat, damit er imstande ist, aufgrund der gesunden Lehre ebensowohl zu ermahnen als auch die Widersprechenden zu widerlegen.

Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

Denn es gibt viele, die sich nicht unterordnen wollen, Schwätzer und Schwindler, besonders unter den Judenchristen;

Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades, y engañadores de las almas, mayormente los que son de la circuncisión,

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

ihnen muß man den Mund stopfen, weil sie ganze Häuser zerrütten, indem sie um schändlichen Gewinnes willen ungehörige Lehren vortragen.

A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

Hat doch ein Prophet aus ihrer eigenen Mitte gesagt: »Die Kreter sind immer verlogen, bösartige Tiere, faule Bäuche.«

Dijo uno de ellos, propio profeta de ellos: Los Cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, vientres perezosos.

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Dies Zeugnis entspricht der Wahrheit, und aus diesem Grunde weise sie rücksichtslos zurecht, damit sie im Glauben gesund bleiben

Este testimonio es verdadero: por tanto, repréndelos duramente, para que sean sanos en la fe,

und ihre Gedanken nicht auf jüdische Fabeln und auf Gebote von Menschen richten, die der Wahrheit den Rücken kehren.

No atendiendo á fábulas judaicas, y á mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

»Für die Reinen ist alles rein«, für die Befleckten und Ungläubigen dagegen ist nichts rein, sondern bei ihnen ist beides, ihr Verstand und ihr Gewissen, befleckt.

Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Sie behaupten zwar, Gott zu kennen, verleugnen ihn aber durch ihr ganzes Tun: verabscheuenswerte und ungehorsame, zu jedem guten Werk untüchtige Menschen.

Profésanse conocer á Dios; mas con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados para toda buena obra.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
