Por esta razón te dejé en Creta, para que te encargaras de poner en orden las cosas desordenadas, y designaras ancianos en cada ciudad, como yo me propuse.

El anciano debe ser irreprochable, esposo de una sola esposa, que tenga hijos fieles, no con acusación de relajamiento moral o rebeldes.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Porque es necesario que el supervisor sea irreprochable como administrador de Dios: no arrogante, no iracundo, no adicto al vino, no pendenciero, no codicioso de ganancia deshonesta,

sino hospedador, amante de lo bueno, prudente, justo, santo, disciplinado,

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

que retenga la palabra fiel, según la doctrina, a fin de que también pueda exhortar con la sana doctrina y convencer a los que contradicen.
Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Porque hay muchos indisciplinados, habladores de vanidades y engañadores, especialmente de los judíos,

Este testimonio es verdadero. Por lo cual, repréndelos severamente para que sean sanos en la fe,

Todas las cosas son puras para los puros, pero para los contaminados e incrédulos nada es puro. Pues aun la mente y la conciencia de ellos fueron contaminadas.
Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Profesan conocer a Dios, pero con los hechos lo niegan, pues son repugnantes y desobedientes, descalificados para toda buena obra.
