1Esta carta viene de parte de Pablo, siervo de Dios y apóstol de Jesucristo. Fui enviado para edificar la fe del pueblo escogido de Dios y para compartir el conocimiento de la verdad que conduce a vidas dedicadas a Dios.
2Esto les da la esperanza de una vida eterna que Dios (quien no puede mentir) prometió desde edades atrás,
3pero que a su debido tiempo reveló por medio de su palabra, en el mensaje que se me encomendó predicar, siguiendo el mandato de Dios, nuestro Salvador.
4Esta carta va dirigida a Tito, mi verdadero hijo por medio de la fe en Dios que tenemos en común. Ten gracia y paz de Dios el Padre, y de Cristo Jesús, nuestro Salvador.
5La razón por la cual te dejé en Creta fue para que organizaras lo que era necesario y para designar ancianos en cada ciudad, como te dije.
6Un anciano debe tener una buena reputación, ser esposo de una mujer, y tener hijos creyentes y de los cuales no se diga que son rebeldes y desobedientes.
7Como líder de Dios, un anciano líder debe tener una buena reputación y no ser arrogante. No debe tener un mal carácter ni embriagarse; no debe ser violento ni tener avaricia por el dinero.
8Debe ser hospitalario, amar el bien y hacer lo recto. Debe vivir una vida dedicada a Dios, tener dominio propio,
9y consagrarse al mensaje fiel, tal como se le enseño. De esta manera podrá animar a otros por medio de la enseñanza correcta, y convencer a los que se oponen.
10Pues hay muchos rebeldes por ahí que predican engaños sin sentido, especialmente los del grupo de la circuncisión.
11Toda su habladuría debe parar. Pues ellos causan inestabilidad en las familias, enseñando cosas que no son correctas, por interés de ganar dinero.
12Tal como ha dicho uno de su propio pueblo, un profeta: “Todos los cretenses son mentirosos, bestias del mal, perezosas y avaras”.
13¡Esto es muy cierto! Por ello, repréndelos con severidad para que puedan llegar a tener una fe sana en Dios,
14dejando de atender los mandamientos humanos y mitos judíos de aquellos que se desvían de la verdad.
15A los que tienen mentes puras, todo les parece puro; pero para los que son corruptos y se niegan a creer en Dios, nada es puro. Porque tanto sus mentes como sus conciencias están corrompidas.
16Ellos dicen conocer a Dios, pero con sus actos demuestran que es mentira. Son aborrecibles y desobedientes, y no sirven para hacer nada bueno.

1PABLO, siervo de Dios, y apóstol de Jesucristo, según la fe de los escogidos de Dios, y el conocimiento de la verdad que es según la piedad,
2Para la esperanza de la vida eterna, la cual Dios, que no puede mentir, prometió antes de los tiempos de los siglos,
3Y manifestó á sus tiempos su palabra por la predicación, que me es á mí encomendada por mandamiento de nuestro Salvador Dios;
4A Tito, verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo Salvador nuestro.
5Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo que falta, y pusieses ancianos por las villas, así como yo te mandé:
6El que fuere sin crimen, marido de una mujer, que tenga hijos fieles que no estén acusados de disolución, ó contumaces.
7Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;
8Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;
9Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.
10Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades, y engañadores de las almas, mayormente los que son de la circuncisión,
11A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.
12Dijo uno de ellos, propio profeta de ellos: Los Cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, vientres perezosos.
13Este testimonio es verdadero: por tanto, repréndelos duramente, para que sean sanos en la fe,
14No atendiendo á fábulas judaicas, y á mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.
15Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.
16Profésanse conocer á Dios; mas con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados para toda buena obra.

1Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
4To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
10For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
12One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
15Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

1Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
2in hope of eternal life, which God, who can’t lie, promised before time began;
3but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,
4to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
5I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—
6if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.
7For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;
8but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,
9holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.
10For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
11whose mouths must be stopped: men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake.
12One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons.”
13This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
14not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
15To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
16They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
