Wehklaget, ihr Zypressen, daß die Zedern gefallen, daß die herrlichen Bäume verwüstet sind! Wehklaget, ihr Eichen Basans, daß der undurchdringliche Wald niedergeschlagen ist!

Aulla, oh haya, porque el cedro cayó, porque los magníficos son talados. Aullad, alcornoques de Basán, porque el fuerte monte es derribado.

Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.

Wail, cypress tree, for the cedar has fallen, because the stately ones are destroyed. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down.
