1Gehet in euch und sammelt euch, du Nation ohne Scham,
2ehe der Beschluß gebiert, wie Spreu fährt der Tag daher, ehe denn über euch komme die Glut des Zornes Jehovas, ehe denn über euch komme der Tag des Zornes Jehovas!
3Suchet Jehova, alle ihr Sanftmütigen des Landes, die ihr sein Recht gewirkt habt; suchet Gerechtigkeit, suchet Demut; vielleicht werdet ihr geborgen am Tage des Zornes Jehovas.
4Denn Gasa wird verlassen und Askalon eine Wüste sein; Asdod: am hellen Mittag wird man es vertreiben, und Ekron wird entwurzelt werden.
5Wehe den Bewohnern des Landstrichs am Meere, der Nation der Kerethiter! Das Wort Jehovas kommt über euch, Kanaan, Land der Philister! Und ich werde dich vernichten, daß kein Bewohner mehr bleibt.
6Und der Landstrich am Meere wird zu Triften voll Hirtenzisternen und Kleinviehhürden werden;
7und es wird ein Landstrich sein für den Überrest des Hauses Juda: sie werden darauf weiden und am Abend sich lagern in den Häusern Askalons; denn Jehova, ihr Gott, wird sich ihrer annehmen und ihre Gefangenschaft wenden.
8Ich habe gehört die Schmähung Moabs und die Lästerungen der Kinder Ammon, womit sie mein Volk geschmäht und großgetan haben wider dessen Gebiet.
9Darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht Jehova der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, soll Moab gewißlich wie Sodom, und die Kinder Ammon wie Gomorra werden, ein Besitztum der Brennesseln und eine Salzgrube und eine Wüste ewiglich. Der Überrest meines Volkes wird sie berauben, und das Überbleibsel meiner Nation sie beerben.
10Solches wird ihnen für ihren Hochmut zuteil, weil sie das Volk Jehovas der Heerscharen geschmäht und wider dasselbe großgetan haben.
11Furchtbar wird Jehova wider sie sein, denn er wird hinschwinden lassen alle Götter der Erde; und alle Inseln der Nationen werden ihn anbeten, ein jeder von seiner Stätte aus.
12Auch ihr, Äthiopier, werdet Erschlagene meines Schwertes sein.
13Und er wird seine Hand gegen Norden ausstrecken, und wird Assyrien vernichten und Ninive zur Wüste machen, dürr wie die Steppe.
14Und in seiner Mitte werden Herden sich lagern, allerlei Tiere in Menge; auch Pelikane, auch Igel werden auf seinen Säulenknäufen übernachten. Eine Stimme singt im Fenster, Trümmer sind auf der Schwelle, denn er hat das Zederngetäfel bloßgelegt.
15Das ist die frohlockende Stadt, die in Sicherheit wohnte, die in ihrem Herzen sprach: Ich bin's und gar keine sonst! Wie ist sie zur Wüste geworden, zum Lagerplatz der wilden Tiere! Ein jeder, der an ihr vorüberzieht, wird zischen, wird seine Hand schwenken.

1CONGREGAOS y meditad, gente no amable,
2Antes que pára el decreto, y el día se pase como el tamo; antes que venga sobre vosotros el furor de la ira de Jehová, antes que el día de la ira de Jehová venga sobre vosotros.
3Buscad á Jehová todos los humildes de la tierra, que pusisteis en obra su juicio; buscad justicia, buscad mansedumbre: quizás seréis guardados en el día del enojo de Jehová.
4Porque Gaza será desamparada, y Ascalón asolada: saquearán á Asdod en el medio día, y Ecrón será desarraigada.
5¡Ay de los que moran á la parte de la mar, de la gente de Cheretim! La palabra de Jehová es contra vosotros, oh Canaán, tierra de Palestinos, que te haré destruir hasta no quedar morador.
6Y será la parte de la mar por moradas de cabañas de pastores, y corrales de ovejas.
7Y será aquella parte para el resto de la casa de Judá; allí apacentarán: en las casas de Ascalón dormirán á la noche; porque Jehová su Dios los visitará, y tornará sus cautivos.
8Yo he oído las afrentas de Moab, y los denuestos de los hijos de Ammón con que deshonraron á mi pueblo, y se engrandecieron sobre su término.
9Por tanto, vivo yo, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que Moab será como Sodoma, y los hijos de Ammón como Gomorra; campo de ortigas, y mina de sal, y asolamiento perpetuo: el resto de mi pueblo los saqueará, y el resto de mi gente los heredará.
10Esto les vendrá por su soberbia, porque afrentaron, y se engrandecieron contra el pueblo de Jehová de los ejércitos.
11Terrible será Jehová contra ellos, porque enervará á todos los dioses de la tierra; y cada uno desde su lugar se inclinará á él, todas las islas de las gentes.
12Vosotros también los de Etiopía seréis muertos con mi espada.
13Y extenderá su mano sobre el aquilón, y destruirá al Assur, y pondrá á Nínive en asolamiento, y en secadal como un desierto.
14Y rebaños de ganado harán en ella majada, todas las bestias de las gentes; el onocrótalo también y el erizo dormirán en sus umbrales: su voz cantará en las ventanas; asolación será en las puertas, porque su enmaderamiento de cedro será descubierto.
15Esta es la ciudad alegre que estaba confiada, la que decía en su corazón: Yo, y no más. ¡Cómo fué en asolamiento, en cama de bestias! Cualquiera que pasare junto á ella silbará, meneará su mano.

1Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you.
3Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger.
4For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
5Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
6And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
7And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
8I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.
9Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
10This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.
11The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
12Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.
13And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
14And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
15This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
World English Bible
1Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, you nation that has no shame,
2before the appointed time when the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes on you, before the day of the LORD’s anger comes on you.
3Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the LORD’s anger.
4For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They will drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron will be rooted up.
5Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! The LORD’s word is against you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you until there is no inhabitant.
6The sea coast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks.
7The coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will find pasture. In the houses of Ashkelon, they will lie down in the evening, for the LORD, their God, will visit them and restore them.
8I have heard the reproach of Moab and the insults of the children of Ammon, with which they have reproached my people and magnified themselves against their border.
9Therefore, as I live, says the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, surely Moab will be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation. The remnant of my people will plunder them, and the survivors of my nation will inherit them.
10This they will have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of Armies.
11The LORD will be awesome to them, for he will famish all the gods of the land. Men will worship him, everyone from his place, even all the shores of the nations.
12You Cushites also, you will be killed by my sword.
13He will stretch out his hand against the north, destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, as dry as the wilderness.
14Herds will lie down in the middle of her, all kinds of animals. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals. Their calls will echo through the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds, for he has laid bare the cedar beams.
15This is the joyous city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a place for animals to lie down in! Everyone who passes by her will hiss and shake their fists.
